Will Blog for Food {and a giveaway winner}

Today I had the pleasure of sharing the afternoon with two friends who also blog.

Handmade by Davina family photo Davina and her family craft gorgeous hand-painted signs from reclaimed wood. She and Andy have great stuff in the works for their blog/business in the next few weeks, and I’ll be sure to share it with you. I just love their emphasis on family unity and godly character – and I know you will, too.

My other friend, Ashlyn, is such a neat young lady. Her blog, Pedantic Foodie, blends her love using big,ol’ SAT words and making tasty food. I’ve known her since she was knee-high to a Kitchen Aid, and she’s been a creative entrepreneur the whole time. Her uncle, Matthew DeJesus, is the photographer who took the family pictures for my blog. There’s a whole lotta’ talent swimming in that family gene pool, I tell ya’.

We worked up an appetite swapping blogging ideas, so I took full advantage of Ashlyn’s culinary skills and put her to work in the kitchen. Actually, she graciously agreed to prepare Bacon Leek Fettucine  so that I could get some pointers from her. I will readily admit that I have 22 years more experience in the kitchen and she has 22 times the knowledge that I have. One important lesson I absorbed tonight is “knowledge + practice=yum”.  Oh, and we need some more “yum” around here.

Speaking of lessons and learning, we have a winner for the “Learn With Me” book giveaway!

Congratulations, Sharon Grafton!  The two books you chose from my reading list should arrive in your mailbox next week. Thank you all for participating and offering suggestions for my list.
