Giant Generosity

Imagine you’re moving your family overseas to unfamiliar surroundings, customs, and foods next week, perhaps for good. Quick! What do you do?

Do you shop like there is no tomorrow and load your suitcases with all the comforts of home?

Not if you’re a husband/wife team of  a gifted teacher/vocalist married to a talented speaker/chef, who happen to be parents of two Clively and Jobial youngsters. giant generosity

If you’re that couple, you host a “Moving Sale” at your house. You announce it well in advance to build suspense amongst your friends over who might arrive first to buy up your admirable collection of vintage-hip treasures and one-0f-a-kind projects you built with your own hands. adventures of buck

You lure friends to your “Sale”  like flies to honey with the promise of oven-fresh gourmet goodies and one last chance to chat over coffee.

Then you pour your coffee, share your cookies, spread your irresistibly charming friendship, and GIVE your stuff away.

You empty your house – FOR FREE.  Then you load it into your friends’ cars with happy hearts and smiling faces.

Your friends choke back tears, because they should have seen your “Free Sale” coming. We should have seen it – because you’ve been giving yourselves to us the whole time.

  • Giving your time to mold our teens
  • Giving up your “rights” to high paying jobs
  • Giving us lessons to sculpt our souls
  • Giving meals and babysitting to hearts heavy with grief
  • Giving wings to music that transports us to the throne of God  Wilsons to England

What provokes this kind of giant generosity?

Faith…as small as a mustard seed. Faith in a gigantically generous God who told them HE would provide for their training. And HE DID.

Faith…that the same God who provided for the training will provide for the going. And HE WILL.

Thank you, gigantically generous Father, for showing us your face through the giant generosity of your children.

This is the Lord’s doing,

and it is marvelous in our eyes.

Psalm 118:23
