Hello, friend! How was your Christmas? I’ve missed you!
What’s new with you these days?
Did you spend any time re-evaluating life during your time off?
Having “down time” to consider resolutions gets my brain in overdrive.
I’m still working out the kinks on my goals for 2013, but one of them has to do with fine-tuning what this blog is all about. For starters, I’ve been a conversation hog.
I need to be a better listener.
I am truly thankful that you choose to spend a few of your precious minutes each week to connect with me here. I thank God for the unique people you are, and that I am blessed to call you friend…because each of you displays a different aspect of his goodness.
I desire to be much more purposeful about blogging as a way to encourage YOU. I want your time here to be invested well.
So, friend, what should we talk about?
Are there any particular topics we can chat about that would meet a specific need of your heart?
I’ve been struggling with insomnia lately. I’m having a hard time with social media. I’m grappling with a heavy burden for orphans, and I’m doing a lot of reading and praying about what I need to do with that burden. Cooking is one of my least favorite duties in the world, yet my family seems to enjoy eating.
Do you share any of these struggles? Do you want to talk about them?
If you would benefit from digging into the Bible with me to find some answers about these topics, or other things on your heart, please leave your suggestions as a comment. If you’d like to remain anonymous with your suggestion, simply send it to me in an email at info@plentyplace.com I’ll be listening…and it will be our secret.
I’m sharing my “hello” over at Lisa Leonard’s blog and mercyINK.

I love your honesty. Anything personal is encouraging and cherished. We young moms would love any advice you have…especially regarding kids! Have you tried Melatonin for sleep? All-natural and non-habit forming…a staple for us. Would love to chat about adoption sometime. A different kind of parenting with challenges and blessings! (Spoken from a “Hannah’s point of view” being 14 years older than my adopted brother) Oh, and I love hearing about your crafts too!
Thanks for the melatonin advice. I’m trying it again now. ;-) The physical side of my sleeplessness is definitely something I’m trying to figure out. I think part of it is spiritual, too. I often lose sight of the fact that the physical & spiritual impact each other (and I have serious weaknesses in both departments.)
Sometimes I forget that you’ve experienced adoption first-hand. Your point of view is one I really, really want to know more about. We have’t had our coffee time yet. Let’s schedule it! =)
Adoption and orphans are always a great topic. Now that I’m done with school, I want to start reading some books or start brainstorming ideas for adoption. I would welcome any of your suggestions!
Marla, I’m excited to know the Lord is prompting you about orphans, too. I keep reading stuff & making mental notes to share it with you. I’m doing a guest post about considering adoption on January 25th over at the Home Educating Family Magazine‘s blog (they are focusing on adoption every Friday this month.) I think I’ll use the article to launch an on-going discussion about orphan care, and I’ll list off helpful resources along the way. I still want to hear more about your trip to Africa…we should get together soon.
